U.S. stock-market indexes opened virtually unchanged on Wednesday as investors were reluctant to make big bets ahead of the release of the minutes from the Federal Reserve’s September policy meeting. The focus has also shifted to earnings season that begins this week with results from large banks such as J.P.Morgan and Citigroup Inc. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.06% was flat at 2,550, trading only a few points below its record close. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index COMP, -0.11% was unchanged at 6,587. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.01% was up 6 points to 22,837 at the open. Among the best performers on Wall Street, Kroger Co shares KR, +6.99% jumped following better-than-expected results.
