Asian stocks were higher on Monday as investors put a choppy week of central bank meetings behind them.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.3 per cent, thanks to positive performances from all other sectors bar consumer staples. Singapore’s Straits Times was up 0.4 per cent.

Japan’s broad Topix benchmark was 0.6 per cent higher, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.9 per cent.

China’s Shanghai Composite was up 0.4 per cent and the tech-focused Shenzhen Composite gained 0.1 per cent. Investors are turning their attention to a decision due Tuesday on whether MSCI will include China A-shares in its globally tracked emerging markets index.
